| If you extract all the zips, and when you attempt to play, the game crashes with a can't find V_gball.mdl or similar error, then you forgot to download the upgrade patch which was right next to the progs.dat on the upgrade page. (Open your eyes!!) |
Known Bugs -
Before posting anything to the Bug Board please look over this list of known bugs and common problems.
MAX_MOD_KNOWN
infamous kick-back-to-DOS bug which arises usually really late in the game, while inbetween levels. (loading up a new level).
Little is known about his Quake message, other than it does indeed exist even in standard Quake - if pushed hard enough. Apparantly we push it even harder and bring it up quicker. If you have some insights as to what this message means, let us know.
Workarounds:
1) Upgrade your version of Quake from 1.01 to 1.06 here.
2) Use WinQuake instead of standard Quake - use a -heapsize 12000 command line as well.
FANTASY QUAKE RUNS REALLY SLOW
Make sure you allocate at least a 12 megabyte heap to Quake, using the -winmem 12 option for all quake versions except WinQuake - use -heapsize 12000 instead. With GLQuake, use a -heapsize of 20000 if you have the memory to do so.
I'M HAVING A REALLY HARD TIME KEEPING UP WITH YOUR UPGRADES
Well, this is still early in beta, and as such frequent (like everyday) updates will be common. Once the major bugs are squashed, and the player classes tweaked close to perfect balance, the updates will taper off somewhat.
